A statement concerning safeguarding: November 2025
In the past week, you may have become aware of statements issued by the Presbyterian Church in Ireland regarding serious safeguarding failures at a central level. As a local church, our thoughts and prayers are especially with those who have been hurt.
In Ballycarry, Islandmagee amd Whitehead Presbyterian Churches, we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for every child and young person who is part of, or takes part in activities connected with, our church family.
We want to assure you that safeguarding remains a central priority in the life and ministries of our three church families. All our children’s and youth activities are led by trained and approved leaders, follow clear procedures, and are overseen by our Kirk Sessions.
In light of recent events, we have already begun reviewing our own safeguarding policies and practices to ensure they continue to be robust and aligned with best practice.
If you have any questions or concerns, or would simply like to speak with someone, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
On behalf of our Kirk Sessions.
