On Sunday morning we will be gathering to remember Jesus’ death as we share together in communion.

At the beginning of a new year, it is an opportunity as a church family to remind ourselves of the source of our unity - Jesus Christ. In preparation for our service I would love for you to take time to read God’s word, to pray and to also listen to some songs.

We will begin our service by reflecting on ‘Abiding in Jesus’ and seeing how through our service and the celebration of communion we have an opportunity to abide in him as He abides in us.

John 15:1-8

‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

John 15:9-11

‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

Dear Lord Jesus, how can it be? How is it possible that you love us as the Father loves you? With unfettered joy, the fullness of affection, and a deluge of delight. We believe, help our unbelief

Jesus, to abide in your love is a command we’ll gladly keep. As a fish swims the depths of the Pacific Ocean and an eagle soars the heights of the Alaska skyline, so shall we seek to abide in your love. It was your obedience that earned the fullness of God’s love for us, and it’s our obedience that frees us to enjoy every good thing we have in you. …
